Fifth Biennial Conference

Adelaide Australia
25-28 October 1998
Adelaide Convention and Exhibition Hall
North Terrace Adelaide
South Australia

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to visit the city of Adelaide to participate in this important conference.

We are proud of our reputation as a city where culture, education, business and entertainment meet to produce a community which values lifelong learning.

This conference provides an opportunity for you to identify and discuss the issues and strategies which will enable library and information services to make an effective contribution to our personal and economic development in the 21st Century.

Jane Lomax-Smith
Lord Mayor of Adelaide

An invitation is extended by John Shipp, 1998 president of the Australian Library and Information Association, to all delegates who attended the conference in Adelaide in October 1998.

Late news
Now that the conference is over, we have tidied up the conference site for archival purposes. In the future we will be placing the conference proceedings here (all 700 pages of them - please be patient - printed copies will be available long before we complete the online version).

We have also upgraded the search engine to provide better and more extensive searching capabilities than before.
