For those who wish to venture further afield, day trips are available to Kangaroo Island, world famous for its scenic beauty and native wildlife, and to South Australia's magnificent wine growing regions. If you have the opportunity, why not arrive early or linger a while longer and enjoy what South Australia has to offer? The Fleurieu Peninsula, the Barossa Valley or Kangaroo Island. Springtime is an ideal time to head north of the state to the famous Flinders Ranges for longer tours.

International Barossa Music Festival
3 October to 18 October

Inaugurated in 1991, this event is recognised as one of the best fine music events in the country. The Festival is held each year in October and features some of the world's most highly-acclaimed performers in concerts at wineries and churches throughout the Valley.

Adelaide International Rose festival
28 October to 1 November 1998

Venue: Botanic Park

McLaren Vale Wine Bushing Festival
30 October to 1 November 1998

This festival, includes an Elizabethan Feast, a family fair that features local produce stalls, food, craft, wine tastings, celebrity bottling and music. It is estimated that approx 7000 people attended the Bushing Festival in 1997.

Ford Open Golf Tournament
22 October to 25 October 1998

Venue: Kooyonga Golf Club. The Ford Open is South Australia's highest profile and biggest golf tournament attracting an international field of golfers to compete at the Kooyonga Golf Course each February. The 1997 event attracted some of the biggest names in the golfing world, including World Number Two, Tom Lehman. A crowd of 55 500 attended the event over 4 days.

Rock n Roll Rendevous
1 November 98

Venue: National Motor Museum , Birdwood. With everything so close in Adelaide, accompanying persons will be able to choose from a wide range of activities from the tranquillity of the Adelaide Hills, to the beaches and shopping precincts.

Tour 1 PR205: Kangaroo Island Full Day Air Tour

Depart 7.30am Adult $190, Return 7.00pm You are escorted by your guide from your hotel to the airport, where you will board a luxury twin engined aircraft ready for the majestic flight to Kangaroo Island. Morning tea is provided for you at historic ‘Kaiwarra Cottage'. Whilst at Seal Bay, your guide will conduct a personalised tour of this unique sea lion colony. At Little Sahara, step into a different world of massive sand dunes rising in stark contrast to the unspoilt Australian bushland. Vivonne Bay's crystal clear water is dazzling -- a photographer's paradise. A three-course gourmet lunch is served in a natural bush setting. Cape de Coudic Lighthouse is one of the last remaining working lighthouses on the island. Admiral's Arch is a breathtaking natural phenomenon and home to 700 New Zealand fur seals. Visit the aptly named Remarkable Rocks. See kangaroos and koalas in the natural environment at Rocky River homestead. This is not a wildlife park -- it is nature at its best. Return to the airport for the flight back to Adelaide where your shuttle bus awaits to return to your hotel.

You have the option of returning to Adelaide on the O'Bahn busway -- the fastest commuter bus system in the world (additional charge of approximately $3).

Tour 3 PR202: Hahndorf -- A Taste of Europe

Departs 9.00am Adult $25, Returns 12.30pm Visit the beautiful Adelaide Hills and explore the historic German village of Hahndorf. Shady century old trees line the main street, and during a leisurely stroll you will pass a kaleidoscope of quaint shops and unique wares, craft and curios. Experience the many museums and galleries such as the Antique Clock Museum, Model Train Village or the Hahndorf Academy featuring works of Sir Hans Heysen. Time for a break -- relax and enjoy a real German style afternoon tea of coffee and cake. Hahndorf is not complete without a visit to the Beerenberg Strawberry Farm producing a huge range of pure fruit jams, pickled onions and sauces. Absorb the splendid scenery of the Adelaide Hills and the panoramic views of the city as we return.

Depart 1.30pm Adult $25, Return 5.00pm Relax and enjoy a drive through the picturesque Adelaide Hills to Cleland Wildlife Reserve. As you wander freely through the park, you can see the cuddly koalas and hand-feed the kangaroos and other native animals. View the colourful patchwork of orchards and market gardens in the Piccadilly Valley with a photostop for a superb view of Adelaide from the newly developed Mount Lofty lookout.

Tour 5 PR206: Wine & Hills Gourmet Half-Day Tour

Depart 1.00pm Adult $30, Return 5.30pm Travel through the exclusive shopping area of King William Road, Hyde Park and past the gracious old stone mansions of Unley Park. Windy Point Lookout provides stunning views over Adelaide City and environs. Continue through the picturesque Adelaide Hills to the McLaren Vale Wine district, and sample some of the local wines at Norman's and Kays Amery. Taste olives from the McLaren Vale Olive Groves and almonds from the famous Almond Train. The return journey follows the spectacular South Australian coastline to historic Glenelg.

Enjoy a leisurely cruise on the Torrens aboard the Popeye (on days of inclement weather another attraction will be substituted) taking in beautiful city views from the Weir to the Adelaide Zoo. Drive along the shady tree-lined North Terrace, where there is a blend of the old and new with landmarks such as Parliament House, Adelaide Casino, Government House, the War Memorial, Art Gallery, Museum, Ayers House and the Botanical Gardens.
