Fifth Biennial Conference

ALIA's Biennial Conferences provide an opportunity for all members of the profession to explore, discuss and debate issues of mutual concern; to rediscover sentiments which underpin our philosophies and to strengthen commitment to our communities and to our professional purposes. Most of all, they are an opportunity to meet other members of the profession and to enjoy yourself.

Adelaide 98 - Pathways to Knowledge will be a significant professional development program. The Conference Committee is committed to a program which puts our clients or customers at the centre of the services that we provided. The program encompasses the diverse components of our industry - children, scientists, economists, educators and students, and the technical areas of cataloguing, collection development and informatics. Looking after our own professional concerns and reflecting on policies and practices add another dimension to this diversity.

The format of Adelaide 98 - Pathways to Knowledge is innovative, providing opportunities for delegates to attend workshops, panel discussions or shorter best practice presentations. The range of formats will enable you to attend sessions which are presented in a way that suits your learning style.

The venue of Adelaide 98 - Pathways to Knowledge is the Adelaide Convention Centre with the Trade Exhibition located in the adjoining Exhibition Hall. The venue is in the centre of sensational Adelaide, a city which is unique for its good living, delicious local food, wines which are the envy of the world and hospitality which comes from the heart.
