Delegates have the choice of taking part in tours of innovative and exciting libraries on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane. Bookings can made when registering for the conference.

Opened 29 November 2003, the Nerang Public Library is located in a purpose-designed building in the Gold Coast’s historic township of Nerang, known as the gateway to the Hinterland. The facility incorporates innovative technologies, a special needs library and community resources.

Bond University is Australia's only privately funded, independent university, designed by internationally renowned Japanese architect, Arata Isozaki. The Bond University Library provides customer-focused, quality innovative services including wireless technology to provide seamless access to our resources. Library staff aim to enhance lifelong learning and contribute to the development of a “Unique Bond Graduate” through teaching information literacy in collaboration with faculty.

Tour of The Southport School Library www.tss.qld.edu.au
In response to the growing concern of educationalists regarding the falling literacy standards of boys, TSS established a wide reading programme that operates from year 7 to 10. Boys at TSS read! They come to the library on a fortnightly basis where, with the help of the librarian and teacher, they select and read books. At the end of every term they present a short oral report on their chosen book.

2.15pm Tour of Southport Public and Local Studies (including Mobile Library) and Afternoon Tea The Southport Public Library won the People’s Choice Award and was one of the three finalists in the Gold Award at the 2003 Gold Coast Urban Design Awards. Southport Branch Library and Gold Coast’s Local Studies Library are housed in the same facility providing customers with access to a wide range of information.

Opened in 1997 and extended in March 2004, the Chermside Library is a flagship for Brisbane City Council Library Services and is a key part of the Chermside Community Hub Precinct. Its focus is on a full range of traditional library services, social, cultural, recreational and learning needs.

Opening in 2004, this library was planned by a partnership involving Pine Rivers Shire Council, Education Queensland, and the Hornery Institute, and is being developed as a joint use facility.

Tour of Queensland Parliamentary Library www.parliament.qld.gov.au
The Queensland Parliamentary Library provides research and information, media monitoring and library services for Members of the Queensland Parliament and their immediate staff, and in addition provides parliamentary education services to secondary school students, the public sector and other community groups. It also has a famous nineteenth century heritage collection located in the O'Donovan Library of Parliament House.

Established in 1855, the City Botanic Gardens are Queensland’s oldest public gardens. The gardens feature majestic palms, Moreton Bay Figs, a mangrove walk, rainforest glade and exotic plants.

The UQ Ipswich Library is one branch of the University of Queensland Cybrary and is co-located with Student Services at the University's Ipswich campus. It has an extensive print collection and excellent online information access to a vast array of e-books and e-journals. It is the hub of student activity on the campus and provides a variety of learning spaces, including e-zones and an attractive internal garden and water feature.
