| Challenging
Culture and Tradition
The focus of this theme will be issues that challenge the traditional
role that libraries have played in society. Issues include, but are not
limited to, social justice, social capital,
Indigenous knowledge systems, servicing the invisible client and information
literacy. For example:
- Extending the traditional services libraries offer
- New and emerging/developing roles for librarians/libraries
- Meeting the diversity challenge
- The relationship between knowledge management and libraries
- Becoming a trend setter, rather than a trend follower
- Out of sight is not out of mind: designing services for customers
you never see!
- Strategies for contributing to lifelong learning and the value of
reading in the future
- Capturing the non-user and retaining customers through innovative
service delivery
- Changing partners, taking control and producing information - e publishing
in the library.
