Virtual Conference Papers

It is with pleasure that the ALIA Biennial Conference Organising Committee invites colleagues to submit a virtual conference paper for the 2006 CLICK 06 conference.

This will be the first time the ALIA Biennial Conference has hosted a virtual conference facility. This innovation creates opportunities for global contributions to the conference. Virtual conference papers will be published on the Conference website.

Abstracts for virtual conference papers (250 words) will be peer reviewed for academic accreditation. Papers will also receive an ISBN. To submit an abstract for consideration click on the 'Submit VP Abstract' link in the left frame of this page .

The submission of virtual papers has closed

Note: If you are attending the Conference, you must pay the registration fee to have the paper published online, or if you are not attending, a 'virtual paper submission fee' will apply ($165).

Please contact Barbara Combes b.combes@ecu.edu.au on the Program Committee if you have any questions regarding this latest initiative from CLICK 06.

Conference Themes

The ALIA CLICK06 Programme Committee invites you to contribute a paper or poster presentation addressing one of the three major day themes of the ALIA 2006 Biennial Conference CLICK06:

  • Leadership
  • Knowledge
  • Innovation

relating to wider issues such as:

  • Collections
  • Clients
  • Services to clients
  • Digital Agenda
  • Education for librarianship
  • Copyright
  • Literacy
  • Information literacy
  • Information technology
  • Marketing
  • Staffing
  • Library architecture and buildings.

These themes provide the foundation for presenters to submit creative, intellectual and challenging papers on the many issues which library and information professionals face today.
The ALIA 2006, CLICK06 conference will provide a forum where we can look to the future by exploring emerging trends to assess the ways in which we meet the challenges in our library and information services of today.
The presentations must comprise new work, i.e. work that has not been presented or published elsewhere prior to this conference.

Papers

Presenters will be allocated 30 minutes (including question time) to present their paper. The deadline for paper submission is 30 June 2006.
Presentation and preparation of manuscript guidelines will be forwarded with notification of acceptance.
Papers will be published in the online Proceedings of the Conference. Papers not submitted in the designated format and by the due dates may, at the committee's discretion, be excluded from the Proceedings.
Papers accepted for publication in the online Proceedings must not be presented or published elsewhere prior to the Conference.
Papers can be lodged on institutional or personal websites after the Conference providing there is acknowledgement of the Conference.
Authors will have the opportunity to elect if they would like their papers peer-reviewed. This will be done as a blind review by two referees.

Posters

Poster sessions will be visual presentations that are less formal than the oral presentation. They give presenters an opportunity to interact with conference delegates when they view the poster. For hints on designing effective poster presentations, there are a range of sites available on the Web.
Examples include:

http://www.kumc.edu/SAH/OTEd/jradel/Poster_Presentations/110.html http://www.biophysics.org/education/block.pdf http://educ.queensu.ca/%7Ear/poster.htm

Poster presenters will be provided with a board area of 1.2m wide x 1.8m high. Details of poster preparation and presentation guidelines will be forwarded with notification of acceptance. Poster presentations will be allocated set times during the conference where you will be able to discuss the poster with delegates. At other times the posters will be available for people to view.
