Re-imagining Library Services: Implementing NSLA's Collaborative Strategic Plan

  • Alan Smith, Chairman NLSA, Australia
  • National & State Libraries Australasia (NSLA) have begun implementing the Re-imagining Library Services Strategic Plan 2008-2013. It is based on a new vision for our libraries, centred on opening up our content, empowering our users, and leveraging collaboration to achieve rapid and significant change.

    The strategic themes of the plan, to be delivered through a series of collaborative projects, are:
    · One library, providing users with consistent and easy experience across our libraries;
    · Transforming our culture, promoting a culture which supports new services for users and emerging technologies; and
    · Accessible content, using collaboration to liberate our content and empower users to find, share and create content.

    This session will outline the collaborative projects as well as the structures in place to deliver this complex program of work across ten major library services.
