Bridging services - embracing reality

The Library Training Package and initial & continuing training for library assistants and library technicians at SBIT.

Formal training for library assistants and library technicians is now generated from the Library and Information Services Industry Training Package. This document group is currently under review and revision, with an expected completion date around October 2003.

This presentation will describe the current form of courses and training delivered by Southbank Institute of TAFE, based on the training package; the nature of any changes available at the time of writing; and will highlight some of the training possible under the Training Package, but not yet offered.

The purpose of the presentation will be to alert library technicians and other library workers to the potential for skills development under the training package, and to raise understanding of the foundation upon which the Training Package rests.
