Invitation from the Convenor

On behalf of the Conference Organising Committee, ‘Team Adelaide 2009’ I am delighted to have the opportunity to invite you to the 2009 ALIA National Library & Information Technicians Conference.

This year the Conference returns to Adelaide, where Library Technicians convened, at the first conference, thirty years ago. Known as the city of food and wine, Adelaide is a compact city situated between the beautiful Adelaide Hills and the long white beaches of the Gulf of St Vincent. Settled in 1836, Adelaide retains much of the charm and tranquility of the past while offering all the vigour, multicultural diversity and conveniences of a modern city.

The theme of the Conference, Technology-Technique-Unique, aims to provide a programme that will challenge ideas, generate discussion and promote new thinking. It will offer delegates a unique experience, address challenges and opportunities provided by fast moving technologies and explore the techniques used to survive and thrive in 2009.

Adelaide 2009 will provide a forum where library and information professionals can debate ideas, network with colleagues, participate in tours of best practice sites, attend a trade exhibition and enjoy social activities at a range of Adelaide venues
Please join us at the Conference in September 2009 and stay on to enjoy your visit to Adelaide. We, Team Adelaide 2009, look forward to welcoming old friends and meeting new ones.
