Networking Opportunities

The ALIA National Library & Information Technicians Conference 2011 offers a variety of social events and networking opportunities to enable delegates to mingle with colleagues and make new industry contacts.

Pre-Conference Meetings

The Conference Organising Committee encourages industry groups and formalised networks to use the ALIA National Library & Information Technicians Conference as an opportunity to meet face-to-face in formal or informal settings. ALIA is able to assist with venue bookings for network meetings - please contact the ALIA Events Team on events@alia.org.au for assistance.

Social Functions

Magical Welcome Reception

Date: Tuesday 13 September 2011
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Venue: Pan Pacific Perth (formerly the Sheraton Perth Hotel), Exhibition Area

LibTech11 invites delegates to be a part of a Magical Welcome Reception, featuring "The Perth Magician" Rob Townsend. Rob will be roaming the crowd, instilling delegates with a sense of childhood wonder by performing magic tricks and setting the scene for a week filled with extraordinary workshops and networking opportunities.

First Timers’ Dinner

Date: Tuesday 13 September 2011
Time: 7:00pm - 10:00pm
Venue: Grosvenor Hotel, 339 Hay St Perth WA 6000 - 2 minute walk from the Pan Pacific Perth (Formerly the Sheraton Perth Hotel)
Dress Code: Smart Casual
Cost: At Delegates own expense

The First Timers' Dinner is a great social and networking occasion for delegates attending the Conference for the very first time. Commencing immediately after the Welcome Reception, the dinner is a great way to begin the Conference.

Conference Happy Hour

Date: Wednesday 14 September 2011
Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Venue: Pan Pacific Perth (Formerly the Sheraton Perth Hotel), Lounge Bar (Ground Floor)
Dress Code: Smart Casual
Cost: At Delegates own expense

Continue the social networking experience with fellow delegates and friends at the Conference Happy Hour. Discounted drinks are available to all delegates wearing their Conference Name Badge.

Conference Dinner and Dance

Date: Thursday 15 September 2011
Time: 7:00pm - 11:30pm
Venue: Grand Ballroom, Hyatt Hotel Adelaide Terrace Perth - 5 minute walk from the Pan Pacific Perth (Formerly the Sheraton Perth Hotel)
Dress Code: Lounge Suit (Suit required, Black Tie not required)
Cost: One (1) ticket is included in Full Delegate Conference Registration. Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to receive your ticket, as tickets will not be allocated automatically. Tickets can be purchased for Day Delegates and Accompanying Persons for $140.00 pp (inc. GST).

Enjoy an excellent dinner with fine wines and entertainment at one of Perth's great venues. The Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Perth Hotel is renowned for its sophistication and will definitely add decadence to this event. We look forward to welcoming delegates to the Conference Dinner and Dance. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner, take a breather in the 'chill out zone' or dance the night away on the dance floor. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy a fun filled evening with old and new friends.

Conference Closing Drinks “Remixer”

Cost: One (1) ticket is included in Full Delegate Conference Registration. Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to receive your ticket, as tickets will not be allocated automatically. Partners are welcome to attend. Tickets can be purchased for Day Delegates, Accompanying Persons and Non-Delegates for $20.00 pp (inc. GST).

Join us to celebrate the Conference at the closing drinks. Farewell Libtech attendees and welcome delegates attending the ALIA 5th New Librarians Symposium. The 'Remixer' is a great opportunity to relax, debrief and network with library colleagues.
