TOURIST INFORMATION - IN AND AROUND BRISBANE

South Bank
Southbank parklands offers walks through lovely gardens, restaurants, cafes, swimming lagoons, shops, and the IMAX cinema.

Craft Markets are held at Southbank Friday nights from 5.00pm to 10.00pm, Saturday from 11.00am to 5.00pm, and Sunday from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

  How to get there:
Bus: The Cultural Centre Busway is located across from the Parklands. Buses run regularly from the City centre.
Train: South Brisbane station is situated next to the Parklands. Trains run regularly from Central and Roma Street stations.
Foot: Walk across the Victoria Bridge (at the end of the Queen St Mall) or the Goodwill Bridge (access from QUT Gardens Point)
Roma Street Parklands
Take a stroll through the parklands or just enjoy relaxing under a shady tree. Pack a picnic or enjoy eating at the café. Or even take a guided walk - Thursday through to Sunday, and on public holidays, 10am and 2pm (11am and 2pm in winter).
  How to get there:
Bus: Brisbane City Council buses stop at several locations near Roma Street Parkland, along Wickham Terrace. Buses also pick-up and drop-off at stops on Turbot Street and directly in front of the Roma Street Transit Centre situated on Roma Street.
Train: Roma Street station is situated next to the Parklands. Trains run regularly from Central station.

Riverside Markets
The riverside markets offer a broad selection of craft including art, aromatherapy, silk, candles, etc. They are held every Sunday from 7.00am to 4.00pm at the Riverside Centre and Eagle Street Pier.

Treasury Casino
The Treasury Casino offers approximately 90 gamin tables and over 1200 gaming machines spread over three levels. Five restaurants within the casino offer a huge dining variety. Like all Australian Casino's, patrons must be over the age of 18 to be permitted entry.

Foot: Walk from the CBD to the end of the Queen Street Mall. Visit their website for more directions.
Queen St Mall
The Queen Street Mall is pedestrian precinct with over 500 shops, most of which are open seven days a week. Night shopping in the city is available each Friday till 9.00 pm. The Mall stretches between George and Edward Streets, extending out into Albert Street.

Myer Centre
The Myer Centre contains department stores, over 200 specialty shops, cafes, a food hall, and cinemas.

The Queensland Art Gallery
Opening hours:
Monday to Friday - 10.00am to 5.00pm
Saturday and Sunday - 9.00am to 5.00pm
Admission is free except to special exhibitions.

Free guided tours of the Queensland Art Gallery Collection and visiting exhibitions are conducted daily:
Monday - Friday: 11.00am, 1.00pm and 2.00pm
Saturday: 11.00am, 2.00pm and 3.00pm
Sunday: 11.00am, 1.00pm and 3.00pm

The State Library of Queensland
Opening Hours:
Monday to Thursday - 10.00am to 8.00pm
Friday to Sunday - 10.00am to 5.00pm

Operating Hours:
Between 11.00am and 5.00pm, a 22 minute transfer from both the domestic and international airports runs approximately every 15 minutes.

  Queensland Rail
City Trains will take the traveller from the centre of Brisbane south to Beenleigh, Robina, and the Gold Coast, north to Ferny Grove, Shorncliffe, Caboolture, and Gympie, east to Cleveland, and west to Ipswich and Rosewood.
