Arts in the West End
The West End has an extremely rich and colourful history and is one of the oldest settled areas in Adelaide. Historically the vitality of the area stemmed from its rich ethnic mix. In the 1960s and 70s Hindley Street became a premier tourist and entertainment precinct. The 1980s and early 1990s saw a slow decline in occupancy and visitors, and less diversity of activities . This prompted a strategic and innovative Arts-led urban renewal program in the late 1990s.

Media have dubbed a day on the green the "Big Day Out" for grown ups! The combination of the picturesque outdoor location for anyone interested in a quality musical act with the added bonus of being able to eat and drink, has proved extremely popular since its inception in 2001. adayonthegreen is about enjoying life‚s simple pleasures in a no-fuss, relaxed environment.
