NLS4 Convenor’s Welcome
On behalf of the Organising Committee for the 4th ALIA New Librarians’ Symposium, I would like to invite you to Melbourne in 2008.
The objectives of the 2008 symposium are to showcase new and innovative developments by addressing various issues which affect new graduates, providing a forum for professionals from all library and related sectors to network, exchange ideas and learn from each other. It is in the context of this networking and innovative environment that the New Librarians’ Symposium in 2008 will be organised, to address the various issues currently facing library and information professionals.
The theme of Breaking Barriers has been developed to stimulate discussion and debate, as well as encourage innovation, best practice and information sharing. The Organising Committee is dedicated to providing an inspiring and challenging program for all delegates.
Melbourne has a national and international reputation for not only being the Garden and Cultural City of Australia, but also a place of business vitality, excellent restaurants and enviable sporting events. With the date for the Symposium being in December 2008, Melbourne will be an ideal location in terms of accessibility, facilities and atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you all in Melbourne in 2008.
